Following the success of Nirvana‘s Nevermind LP, major labels swooped on Seattle signing any band in sight that had guitars and flannel shirts – and it seemed that every time Kurt Cobain praised an indie band in an interview, said band were immediately offered a multi-album deal.
As with all industry feeding frenzies, the mediocre signings far out-weighed the great ones.
