The story of the most famous group in the history of popular music, narrated by Malcolm McDowell.
From the early days in Liverpool. through the sleazy streets of Hamburg, their triumphant American tour, to worldwide fame and their eventual tumultuous breakup, this musical history tour featured excerpts from over 50 Beatles songs.
Among those interviewed was producer George Martin, who recreated some of the legendary recording sessions. Also featured were promotional films, clips from the movies, and rarely-seen footage of The Beatles on tour, in concert and at the studio.
Also interviewed were Gerry Marsden from Gerry and The Pacemakers, Billy J Kramer, Tony Sheridan, Cavern DJ Bob Wooler, Billy Preston, Marianne Faithfull, Star Club manager Horst Fascher, and The Beatles’ first manager Alan Williams.
The Compleat Beatles was written by David Silver, produced by Stephanie Bennett and directed by Patrick Montgomery.
Paul McCartney bought the rights to the film in the 1990s (before the release of the Anthology documentary) and removed it from circulation.
A must-see for any fan of popular music.
