DJ Alan Freeman hosted this short-lived Wednesday night music show which was produced by Associated-Rediffusion and featured female artists from the pop scene.
Amongst the “girls” featured on the show were Petula Clark, Alma Cogan, Billie Davis, Carol Deene, Aretha Franklin, Julie Grant, Kathy Kirby, Brenda Lee, Millicent Martin, Susan Maughan, Helen Shapiro, Dusty Springfield, and The Vernon Girls.
The show evolved into They’ve Sold A Million (1963 – 1964), with Freeman usually again as host and artists such as Gerry & the Pacemakers, Joe Brown, The Ronettes, The Crystals and The Searchers in the frame.
The 15-minute programmes proved handy as last-minute fillers for ITV regional schedulers.
