Hullabaloo premiered on 12 January 1965 and aired until 29 August the same year. The NBC show was a big-budget, quality showcase for the leading pop acts of the day, and was also competition for another like-minded television showcase, ABC’s Shindig!.
The show featured The Hullabaloo Dancers, 10 good-looking dancer regulars – six girls and four boys – who became very popular.
A different host presided each week – including Paul Anka, Jack Jones, Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello, Jerry Lewis, Sammy Davis Jr, David McCallum, Trini Lopez, George Hamilton and others – and for the first three months, the show included a segment from London hosted by Beatles‘ manager Brian Epstein.
