Steinem said Ms. would not tell you “how to make jelly, but how to seize control of your life”.
The burgeoning strength of the Women’s Lib movement was reflected in 1972 by the US Senate’s passing of the Equal Rights Amendment which prohibited any discrimination on the basis of gender.
