The snood might sound like a monster from Doctor Who but it was in fact the 1980s equivalent of the hoody.
Except it was even more ridiculous-looking.
It was basically a cross between a scarf and a hood which was worn over the head. So technically it should have been called a “Scood”.
Although, truth be told, the most apt name for this fashion faux-pas would have been “Twat”.
That way, when you shouted in the street “look at that twat over there” you would be naming both the head-gear and the owner in one fell swoop . . .
