    Diet Coke/Diet Pepsi

A product of the 80s – you could still drink Cola AND look stunning in a lycra aerobics outfit and leg-warmers.

Probably one of the most famous brands to be born in the 1980s, Diet Coke emerged in 1982, followed by a caffeine-free version a year later, then Cherry Coke and Diet Cherry Coke.

Diet soda sales peaked in 2005 – when three billion cases were sold – but have been declining ever since because of concerns over artificial sweeteners. Somebody convince me that this stuff is not carcinogenic!
