This “picture paper specially for little girls” was published by DC Thomson from 27 January 1968 to 1999.

The 1,612 issues were produced weekly, supplemented each year with a Summer Special and – from 1970 onwards – a hardcover Annual.

The comics were introduced by Twinkle herself and featured comic strips, dress-up dolls, a Twinkle Club letters page, and, often, puzzles.

Among the most popular comic strips were:

    • Caroline and her Magic Car
    • Dandy Lion
    • Goldilocks and Her Three Bears
    • Goody Gumdrops (who lived in Sweetie Town where everyone was named after sweets)
    • Jean Genie
    • Jenny Wren
    • Jilly of Jingle Bell School
    • Molly and her Dollies
    • My Baby Brother
    • Nurse Nancy
    • Patsy Panda
    • Patty Pickle
    • Polly’s Magic Paintbox (Whatever Polly painted came to life because of her magic paints)
    • Sally Sweet
    • Silly Milly
    • The Three Pennys
    • Witch Winkle
