    Whizzer and Chips

This children’s comic from Fleetway was launched on 18 October 1969. It absorbed Knockout (1973), Krazy (1978) and Whoopee! (1985) before finally being merged with Buster on 27 October 1990.

Whizzer and Chips was marketed as “two comics in one” (though it was produced as a single entity) – the main comic being Whizzer with Chips being a pull-out section in the middle.

The two comics were presented as fierce rivals, and readers were encouraged to identify as a “Whizz-Kid” or a “Chip-ite”.

    Popular strips included:

    • Belle Tent
    • Bewitched Belinda
    • Bobby’s Ghoul
    • Bookworm
