    ElectraWoman And DynaGirl

    1 9 7 6 – 1 9 7 7 (USA)
    16 x 15 minute episodes

Lori (Deidre Hall) and Judy (Judy Strangis) are both writers for Newsmaker magazine – but when trouble calls they become ElectraWoman and DynaGirl and solve crimes using the latest in technological gadgetry, such as the ultramodern, highly complex ‘Crime Scope’ computer system which was supplied by their assistant Frank Heflin (Norman Alden) and programmed to pinpoint criminal activity.

electrawoman_067By activating the Electra Change (at their Electra Base) Laurie and Judy go from their street clothes to their crime-fighting outfits.

Fearless and resourceful, Lori wears a reddish-orange ElectraWoman costume with a yellow cape, boots and tights (to match her blonde hair). The letters EW appear on the front of her costume.

The more impetuous Judy dons a red Dyna Girl costume, cape and boots with pink tights, and the letters DG on the front of her costume. She uses phrases like “What an Electra Mess!” or “Electra Wow!” when in a jam.

They travel in either the Electra Car or the Electra Plane and use devices including the Electra Comp (their wrist-worn, portable link to
Electra Base), Electra Strobe (which allows them to perform anything at 10,000 times normal speed), Electra G (which adds gravity to their bodies when activated) and Electra Power (a sudden burst of power to help in difficult situations).

The various villains they encounter include The Sorcerer, Ali Baba, the Spider Lady, Cleopatra, the Pharaoh, and the Empress of Evil.

ElectraWoman and DynaGirl was part of the original version of the Krofft Supershow.

A short pilot was made in 2001 in an attempt to remake the series, with Markie Post of Night Court fame as ElectraWoman, now living in a trailer park and hooked on booze. No series eventuated.

Yes, one of the great presenters. R.I.P.

For fans of the radio series Round The Horne (1965 - 1968) - starring the inimitable Kenneth Williams - there are several full episodes on Spotify. Some of the humour is still pretty close to the edge, even by modern standards. Bona!
