Michael Denison featured as suave, elegant Richard Boyd, a leading barrister, in ITV’s first courtroom drama, illustrating the many facets of British justice.
The show was so accurate that Michael Dennison received invitations to address Law Society dinners, and a real Queens Counsel said that any young man wanting a career at the bar could do no better than to model himself on Boyd QC.
Ably supported by his clerk, Jack (who also acted as narrator), Boyd prosecuted at times, but usually defended, generally turning up the right result.
Created by Jack Roffey and filmed in semi-documentary style, the series was one of the first programmes to explore the world of the British judiciary, becoming a major hit, particularly towards the end of its long run.
