Captain Moonlight (Jeremy White) was the two-fisted, steely-eyed hero of a radio series and an expert at getting out of tight corners. Tony Lord, the short-sighted actor who played him, found Moonlight’s experiences invaluable when he stumbled upon some real-life crooks.
In the 1960 version of the serial, Bernard Horsfall played the Captain and actor Stephen Sycamore. In his immaculate evening dress – complete with sword stick and mask – Moonlight travelled the world in his private helicopter, although Stephen’s real-life transport was more prosaic – a bubble car.
Pretty young Daily News reporter Maggie Hart (Pamela Buck) accompanied Stephen on his adventures and “The Imposter” (Heron Carvic) was his inscrutable opponent.
