1 9 5 2 – 1 9 5 4 (USA)
A daytime television version of this familiar radio quiz ran on CBS between October 1952 and July 1954.
Contestants were asked a series of four questions by host Bert Parks, respectively worth $10, $20, $40, and double or nothing, for a possible total of $140 in the first round.
All contestants, whether or not they were successful in the first round, then participated in the “Red and White Sweepstakes” at the end (the colours referred to those on the label of the sponsor’s product, Campbell soups).
In the sweepstakes, a question was asked and each contestant wrote their answer on a card shaped like a horse. The “race” was won by whoever could provide the correct answer first.
Bert Parks was assisted by Bob Williams.
The summer of 1953 brought the quiz show to primetime television for a five-week stay.
