This summer holiday variety series from the BBC debuted on Tuesday 23 June 1959, and starred rubber-faced comedian and Carry On regular Kenneth Connor, assisted by American Cliff Norton, Ken Morris and his wife Joan Savage, newcomer Thelma Ruby, the George Mitchell Singers, Malcolm Lockyer and his Music, and the Hi Summer Dancers.
The 13-week show was fast-moving with songs and gags flowing quickly, and received universal critical acclaim.
When he returned for an eight-week series in 1960, Connor was joined by Leslie Crowther, Jill Day, Valerie Brooks (from the TV Toppers dance troupe), George Chisholm and his Jazzers and dancer Douglas Squires. The George Mitchell Singers returned.
Scripts were by George Wadmore, Terry Nation, John Junkin, Hugh Woodhouse, and Barry Took.
