Premiering on 22 July 1950, this early BBC series brought the inimitable “Monsewer” Eddie Gray to the television screen for the first time.
Gray appeared in a wide variety of disguises in a fortnightly show produced by Richard Afton and scripted by Max Kester.
Regular characters included two English tourists (one played by Felix Felton) who found themselves visiting a new country every fortnight, and their indefatigable guide, in the shape of Monsewer Eddie Gray, who led his innocent dupes into all sorts of complications, lingual and otherwise.
