39 x 30 minute episodes
Pert blonde Corliss Archer (Ann Baker) is a pretty 16-year-old high school sophomore with a penchant for getting herself into trouble. She doesn’t mean to but her over-enthusiastic approach to every situation always causes confusion.
Corliss lives with her parents at 32 Oak Street in a small American town. Her father, Harry (John Eldredge) is a lawyer in private practice. Her mother, Janet (Mary Brian) is attractive and intelligent, a wonderful housekeeper and a talented cook. She was a secretary before she married Harry 18 years ago.
Dexter Franklin (Robert Ellis) is Corliss’s boyfriend and the man she plans to marry someday. Dexter is the innocent victim of endless attempts by Corliss to improve him (she feels he needs to be more mature), although, more often than not, her attempts backfire.
Dexter’s mother and father, Mary (Vera Marshe) and Bill (Ken Christy) appear occasionally.
Before syndication, the series existed for one month in 1951 as a CBS show starring Lugene Sanders in the title role with Frieda Inescort (and then Irene Tedrow) as Janet Archer and Fred Shields as Harry Archer. Meet Corliss Archer also existed as a radio show from 1943 to 1956.
