This comedy series from Granada debuted on 18 September 1956 as a starring vehicle for Dora Bryan.
Sadly, Bryan abruptly left the series after two episodes (following the sudden death of her first child), and by October, the show had become known as My Wife’s Sister with Eleanor Summerfield as the star.
Ellie Martin (Summerfield) was a scatterbrained flibbertigibbet whose main task in life was to get herself into impossible scrapes, from which she was rescued by circumstance and her relatives.
