78 x 30 minute episodes
This black & white Sunday evening drama series from Desilu focused on the day-to-day work of no-nonsense lawman, Sheriff Frank Morgan (John Bromfield) and his deputies in Cochise County, Southern Arizona.
But instead of a gun-slinging, fast-riding Western lawman, this sheriff was a modern (1950s) man: he drove a station wagon, fought with his fists only rarely, never claimed to be able to out-draw anyone with his gun, and used radio, teletype and fingerprints to aid in his fight for law and order.
There seemed to be criminals lurking under every rock and behind every cactus in this otherwise quiet and peaceful desert locale.
When Morgan accepted the position of U.S. Marshal based in Pima County, Arizona the series was renamed U.S. Marshal and ran from 1958 to 1960.
Among the future stars playing supporting roles in episodes of this series were Gavin MacLeod, David Janssen, Michael Landon, Stacy Keach, Charles Bronson, Jack Lord, Doug McClure, Ross Martin and Martin Milner.
