This popular comedy series of 1956 starred the ubiquitous children’s entertainer (and future Carry On star) Peter Butterworth as Mr Oddy, a kindly ex-sailor.
Agatha (Totti Truman-Taylor) was his imperious elder sister, and so bad was her bossiness that Oddy ran away from his cottage and employed the assistance of his nieces and nephews – “Those Kids” – who lived in a nearby block of flats, to worry her out of the place, enabling his return.
The kids’ scrapes with their aunt, and the problems they unwittingly caused their beloved uncle, formed the basis of the weekly episodes.
