    Three Tough Guys

Harry Green, Warren Mitchell and Peter Welch starred as three bumbling gangsters in this six-part fortnightly comedy series from ATV.

Green played an ex-Chicago gangster, now living in England, who claimed to have shot it out with Al Capone (but can’t stand the sight of blood). Welch was a not-too-bright boy and Mitchell played a Damon Runyon type named Slugsy Paternoster (who had first appeared in a couple of episodes of Joan and Leslie.)

The three small-time crooks weren’t the slightest bit tough at all and had hearts of gold (when they planned to burgle a house to pay a gambling debt they ended up minding the baby).
