Harris Claibourne (Richard Eastham), the editor of the Epitaph, was the voice of the press in Tombstone, Arizona (“the town too tough to die”) during the 1880s.
He was also the narrator of the show:
“An actual account from the
pages of my newspaper, The Tombstone Epitaph. This is the way it happened in the town too tough to die – Tombstone Territory”
Sheriff Clay Hollister (Pat Conway) was the strong arm of the law. Charlie Riggs (Gil Rankin) was the deputy.
In an unusual move, new episodes of the series continued to be produced for a year after the show left ABC, for sale in syndication.
