Atom Ant was originally aired as part of The Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show series on NBC, which featured Secret Squirrel, Precious Pupp (who hid his antics from the kindly Granny Sweets), octopus Squiddly Diddly, Winsome Witch, and The Hillbilly Bears – the most ridiculous talking bears to ever come from the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The series debuted on 2 October 1965 and lasted two seasons.
Atom Ant was TV’s smallest (but mightiest) defender of law and order. His headquarters were hidden in a secret lab underneath his private anthill and he picked up distress calls via his built-in antennae and headed out to battle a fearsomely delightful array of villains, such as Bug Fat Dynamo, Crankenshaft, M.D. (short for “Mad Doctor”) and his arch-nemesis and opposite number, Ferocious Flea.
