The Cimarron Strip was the border region between the Kansas Territory and Indian territory during the late 19th century.

Patrolling this vast area was the job of U.S. Marshal Jim Crown (Stuart Whitman), who was based in Cimarron City.

Marshal Crown had no full-time deputies but he often availed himself of the assistance of Mac Gregor (Percy Herbert), an itinerant Scot, and Francis Wilde (Randy Boone), a young photographer.

Also seen as a regular in this series was Dulcey (Jill Townsend), a young woman from the East who had moved to the frontier to take over an inn that had been run by her late father.

Cimarron Strip was an attempt by CBS to copy the success of NBC’s The Virginian (the first 90-minute Western series), and like The Virginian, it centred largely on characters acted by guest stars.
