This NBC drama featured the exploits of Willie Dante (Howard Duff), a reformed gambler who was now the owner of a plush San Francisco nightclub called Dante’s Inferno.
Stories depicted his attempts to overcome the situations that occurred when his past reputation attracted unscrupulous characters.
Willie had a hard time convincing either his former associates or the police that his club was on the level, and he walked the narrow line between underworld threats and the ever-present surveillance of Detective Lieutenant Bob Malone (Mort Mills).
Alan Mowbray co-starred as Stewart Styles, a former conman who was now the maitre de at the club, and Tom D’Andrea played Dante’s right-hand man, Biff.
Dante aired from 3 October 1960 to 10 April 1961. The series was based on the character portrayed by Dick Powell on Four Star Playhouse.
