26 x 30 minute episodes

This sitcom followed events in the lives of Jim and Debbie Thompson who lived at 804 Devon Lane in Los Angeles, California.

Jim (Don Chastain) was a sportswriter for the Los Angeles Sun, and his beautiful and unpredictable wife, Debbie (Debbie Reynolds), yearned for a career as a newspaper feature writer.

Reluctant to have two newspaper writers in the family, Jim wanted Debbie to remain just as she was: “a loving and beautiful housewife devoting herself to making her lord and master happy”.

Stories depicted Debbie’s attempts to prove her abilities and achieve her goal and Jim’s struggles to discourage her.

Charlotte Landers (Patricia Smith) was Debbie’s sister. Bob Landers (Tom Bosley) was Charlotte’s husband. Bruce (Bobby Riha) was their son. Mr Crawford (Herbert Rudley) was Jim’s employer.

Debbie stepped out of character at the end of each episode to address the audience.

The show’s theme song, With a Little Love, was sung by Reynolds herself.
