If you wanted the best food in town, the best wine, the best service – you could try Tony’s nightclub in Swinging London, aptly named ‘Hancock’s’.

You wouldn’t get any of those things, of course, but what you would get was half an hour of unrestrained comedy courtesy of the lad himself and his faithful hat check/waitress and Bunny girl Esmerelda (June Whitfield) and his waiter/chef/cook/dish washer, Toulouse (Joe Ritchie).

Guest stars included Bob Todd, Frankie Randall, Vikki Carr and Nat Temple.

This six-part series was produced by ABC and aired on Tuesday evenings between June and August 1967.
