Glenn Evans (Rod Taylor) was a foreign correspondent based in Hong Kong in this single-season ABC series. He worked for the World Wide News Service and lived in a bachelor pad at 24 Peak Road where he had panoramic views over the city, and his houseboy was Ling (Gerald Jann).
Glenn, sophisticated and debonair, was not a man to sit back and let others do the work. When a story came his way he got in the field and investigated. He was also not one to walk away from a confrontation.
Stories followed Glenn as he often risked his life to get his stories.
Other regular characters included police chief Neil Campbell (Lloyd Bochner); Tully (Jack Kruschen), the owner of Glen’s favourite watering hole (Tully’s Bar), and Ching Mei (Mai Tai Sing), a waitress at the Golden Dragon Café.
There was no shortage of beautiful and sophisticated females in Glenn’s life, with guest stars including Suzanne Pleshette, Julie London, Inger Stevens, Patricia Barry, Rhonda Fleming, Joanna Moore, Felicia Farr, Dina Merrill, Nancy Gates, Taina Elg and Bethel Leslie.
Hong Kong made Aussie actor Rod Taylor a hot property, and he left TV for the movies for eleven years until he returned to television in Bearcats! (1971).
Lionel Newman composed the Hong Kong theme.
