This series of BBC2 plays presented famous trials with each case viewed principally through the eyes of the jury, focussing on the hypothetical conflicts of the jury room.
The series opened with ‘The Sandyford Mystery’ based on an 1862 trial. Later examples included the 1894 case of ‘The Lady and the Axe’ with Bridget Turner as Lizzie Borden.
Cast members of the 12 fifty-minute plays included Hywel Bennett, George Sewell, Nigel Hawthorne, Michael Robbins, Noel Dyson, Peter Bowles, Fulton Mackay, Glynn Edwards, Deryck Guyler, Michael Ripper, Charles Lloyd Pack, Jean Anderson and Garfield Morgan.
