1 9 6 3 – 1 9 6 5 (USA)
60 x 60 minute episodes
This Metro Goldwyn Mayer drama series screened for two seasons on Tuesday nights at 7:30 PM on NBC from 1963 to 1965.
The series followed the experiences of idealistic young high school English teacher John Novak – including a couple of episodes where Novak has to direct the faculty revue called ‘Faculty Follies’.
Yale graduate Novak found himself constantly involved in the problems and private lives of his students (and some of the other teachers).
The high school was called Jefferson High – but there was no sign of Ralph Malph, Richie Cunningham or Potsie Webber – and Room 112 was Novak’s homeroom.
Albert Vane (Dean Jagger) was the principal, Jean Pagano (Jeanne Bal) was the assistant vice principal, Ruth Wilkinson (Phyllis Avery) was the girl’s vice principal, and Rosemary Dorsey (Marjorie Corley) the school secretary.
The series was filmed at John Marshall and Hamilton High Schools in Los Angeles.
Guest stars included Ed Asner, Lillian Gish, June Lockart, Beau Bridges, Robert Culp, Cloris Leachman, Eddie Albert and Claude Akins.
