This high-quality six-part spy thriller from the BBC first aired in September 1963 and was described by The Sunday Times as a “thoroughly ingenious and consistently entertaining tale”.
Aged nuclear physicist Professor Penmore (Keith Pyott) is sent to prison for ten years for betraying rocket secrets to East Germany, but two people believe him innocent – his daughter Pat (Caroline Blakiston) and his assistant Emma (Lana Morris).
Pat’s fiancé, Ian Lambart (William Franklyn) has an open mind. When he is approached by the police and asked to join a new special branch that is just being formed he becomes involved in the professor’s case.
Soon he finds himself following a complicated trail which eventually leads him to the fogous – the prehistoric caves of Cornwall.
No Cloak – No Dagger was produced and directed by Christopher Barry. The BBC repeated the series in August 1965.
