Debuting on 6 December 1968, Terry-Thomas starred in this BBC comedy as James Franklin-Jones, better known to his colleagues as “FJ”.

FJ was a high-powered salesman who travelled the world on behalf of his firm, Balsoms Plastics. His main interest in life, however, was in birds – not plastics.

Peter Clancy (Jonathan Cecil) was FJ’s young trainee assistant who found that the experience he picked up on foreign trips wasn’t confined to business!
