Plupp had been the hero of a series of children’s books by Swedish author Inga Borg (who first created the character in 1955) before making the transition to television in 1968 in the animated series Plupp and his Friends.
Plupp is a small figure with blue hair and a red nose who lives in a kåta (turf shelter) at Lake Blåvattnet (“Blue Waters”) somewhere in the far North. Plupp is invisible to humans and is able to talk to animals.
His two closest friends are Lemming and Ermine (a stoat).
Plupp and his Friends aired in the UK on ITV in 1969 with an English voiceover added.
