1 9 6 7 – 1 9 6 8 (UK)
26 x 55 minute episodes
This primetime drama series from Rediffusion was set in a London convent bristling with charitable nuns and dealt with the various character conflicts, social problems, self-doubt and general activities of the female incumbents (Sort of like Crossroads for nuns).
The main nuns were Sister Juliana (Fay Compton), the oldest nun at the convent; Sister Ursula (Alison Leggatt), who was at odds with contemporary moral behaviour; tough, practical and dependable Sister Paul (Peggy Thorpe-Bates), and high-spirited young Sister Benedict (a very pretty Joanna Dunham) who had been recalled from missionary work in Tanzania and was now assigned generally unrewarding work in the parish.
The series was shown at 8 pm on Wednesday evenings.
