A BBC series based on the lives of three single girls living in bed-sit land in London SW3. It starred Liza Goddard as daffy cellist Victoria with a ridiculous upper-crust accent, Susan Jameson as actress Kate, and Angela Down as cockney art student Avril.
The series followed their relationships – with each other, their families and boyfriends – and their progress in their chosen careers.
Jameson and Down were replaced in the second series by Carolyn Seymour (as journalist Jenny) and Barra Grant (as psychology graduate Lulie).
The theme tune, Light Flight, was a hit for the folk group Pentangle.
The original cast reassembled thirteen years later for a further 4 x 55 minute episodes on BBC2 under the title Take Three Women (pictured below right).
Victoria was now trying to earn a living playing the cello after the death of her wealthy husband, Avril owned an art gallery and was painting successful pastiches of other painters, while Kate was now an interviewer with a trendy magazine and mother to 13-year-old son, Aeneas, from a failed marriage.
