Fresh from his success in Hancock’s Half Hour and Citizen James, Sid James played a London cabbie who gets involved in the day to day problems of his fares and his fellow drivers.

Sid was an owner/driver who – when not dealing with other people’s problems – dealt with those of his partner Fred Cuddell (Bill Owen) or young driver Terry Mills (Ray Brooks).

The twelve 50-minute episodes were an uneven mix of drama and comedy that did not prove successful in the audience ratings.

Bill Owen (later of Last Of The Summer Wine) and Ray Brooks (Big Deal) were amongst the other drivers.
