The series was narrated by Gary Merrill with selections from the six volumes of Churchill’s memoirs read by Richard Burton.
Throughout the series, there were anecdotes and memories about the great British leader from people from all walks of life.
The average audience when the BBC aired the series on Saturday nights in Britain was ten million.
This figure was supplemented by approximately five million for the repeats which were aired on Wednesday evenings.
The series was rerun on ABC in the US in 1962 and 1963.
