Based on the hit film about wife swapping (1969), this ABC sitcom continued the story of the domestic problems of the two Los Angeles couples, though being television, the plots were much tamer.
Filmmaker Bob Sanders (Robert Urich) and his wife Carol (Anne Archer) were in their twenties and “young, aware and with it”. Their neighbours – Lawyer Ted Henderson (David Spielberg) and his wife Alice (Anita Gillette) – were in their thirties and much more conventional.
Bob and Carol had a young son named Sean (Brad Savage), and Ted and Alice had a pre-teen daughter named Elizabeth (Jodie Foster).
Overly cute stories about nude swimming, premarital sex, and unmarried friends living together helped hasten this generation-gap comedy to an early end.
The series aired on ABC at 8:00 pm on Wednesday evenings. 12 episodes were filmed before a live studio audience, but only seven aired between 26 September 1973 and 7 November 1973. Sponsors included JC Penney.
