This BBC Saturday night variety show starring Cliff Richard debuted on 3 January 1970 and ran successfully for four years, attracting 15 million viewers at its peak.
The show’s star trio of Cliff, Hank Marvin (of The Shadows) and Una Stubbs were joined by guests including Dora Bryan, Dandy Nichols, Olivia Newton-JohnElton John, Cilla Black, The New Seekers, Petula Clark, Aimi MacDonald, Roger Whittaker, Mary Hopkin, The Nolan Sisters, The Three Degrees and The Settlers.
In 1970, 1971 and 1972, the show also featured “A Song For Europe”, the elimination competition to choose a song to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest. The songs and artists chosen were Knock, Knock Who’s There? (Mary Hopkin, 1970), Jack In The Box (Clodagh Rodgers, 1971) and Beg, Steal or Borrow (The New Seekers, 1972)
The final episode aired on Saturday 28 September 1974.
