Premiering on Tuesday 13 April 1971 at 11.15 pm, this late-night Thames Television series presented horror movie legend Vincent Price in a very different light – taking viewers on a cookery tour of the world as he cooked his favourite international dishes.
His dishes ranged from the sophisticated – Pannequets au Fondu, Nasi Goreng, Hawaiian Chicken – to a variety of simple but effective creations for a wine and cheese party, rounded off with Kaffee mit Schlag.
Price – who had a lifelong passion for food and fine dining – also gave his insights on global cuisine and grocery economics.
A Corgi paperback cookbook of the same name was published to coincide with the series. Originally priced at just 30p, original copies have changed hands for £50 and more in recent years.
