Having starred in The Dinah Shore Show between 1951 and 1963, and then in Dinah’s Place from 1970 to 1974, the honey-haired entertainer with the smooth contralto voice moved on to host the 90-minute five-day-a-week CBS talk show, Dinah! between 1974 and 1979.
A consummate lady who never failed to put her guests at ease, Dinah attracted the biggest names in show business to her show.
The first week’s guests included Senator Ted Kennedy, Jack Benny, Mary Tyler Moore, Sammy Davis Jr, Mike Connors, Joan Rivers, Carroll O’Connor (Dinah! shared a studio with All In The Family), Seals and Crofts, Merv Griffin, The Fifth Dimension, Roger Moore and Jimmy Hoffa.
Shore moved on to Dinah And Friends which ran from 1979 to 1984.
Dinah Shore died of cancer in February 1994. She was 76.
