Duncan Waring (Robin Nedwell) and Dick Stuart-Clark (Geoffrey Davies) return from their misadventures at sea in Doctor At Sea and take new jobs at St Swithin’s Hospital.
Professor Geoffrey Loftus (Ernest Clark) is once again faced with the prospect of keeping the two disaster-prone nurse-chasing medics on the straight and narrow.
Waring duly falls in love with a nurse called Kate Wright, whom he marries in the 26th and final episode.
Producer Humphrey Barclay rounded up another fine collection of writers to script the two series of Doctor On The Go, with the 20 February 1977 episode (“For Your Own Good”) being especially noteworthy.
This episode was co-authored by Graham Chapman of Monty Python with Douglas Adams, a year before the latter’s Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy exploded onto the radio (and ultimately the TV and big screen).
