In this sequel to On The Buses – created and largely written by the team behind that series, Ronalds Wolfe and Chesney – we learned that ‘Blakey’ had retired and moved to a flat in Spain (25 Apartmentos El Paradiso) leaving behind the Britain of power cuts and the three-day week and affording him a view of the Mediterranean.
Unfortunately for our ‘hero’, he was encumbered by his spinster sister, Dorothy, who didn’t want to leave England and did nothing but moan, and by German neighbours, layabout Spanish porter Carlos (Derek Griffiths) and some appalling ex-pat Britons.
Still, with a knotted handkerchief on his head, and his trouser legs rolled up, he was determined to make a splash of it.
Nothing more, or less, than one of the most excruciatingly poor ITV sitcoms of them all.
