Living at 1450 North Valley Lane in Encino, California, are Richard Evans (Larry Hagman), an architect (owner of Evans Architecture, Inc.), and his new wife, Susan (Diane Baker).
One block away, at 1490 North Valley Lane, is the bachelor pad of Susan’s slovenly poker-loving playboy ex-husband Jerry Standish (Dick Gautier), a former Los Angeles Rams quarterback who now owns the Polynesia Paradise Café.
Half a mile away is 361 Oak Tree Drive, the address of Richard’s bossy and formidable ex-wife, Judy Evans (Nita Talbot), the editor of Screen World magazine.
Jerry and Susan’s preteen children Jan (Kim Richards) and Cindy (Leslie Graves) now reside with Susan and Richard, as does Richard and Judy’s son, Jeff (Chris Beaumont).
Richard and Susan’s struggles to find serenity in a neighbourhood where they are plagued by the constant intrusion of their former spouses is the focal point of the series.
The series was a mid-season replacement for Alias Smith & Jones. The theme tune Here We Go Again was sung by Carole Bayer Sager and Peter Allen.
