It’s Your Bet

1 9 6 9 – 1 9 7 3 (USA)

It’s Your Bet debuted in December 1969 with Hal March hosting.

Two celebrity couples played for selected members of the studio audience in this syndicated game show.

A small, movable wall was placed between the players and one of them was asked a question via telephone to prevent the other from hearing it. The player then bet a number of points (25 to 100) as to whether or not his partner would be able to answer the question.

The question was then read aloud and points were added to, or deducted from, the couples’ score based on the replies by the other partner of the team.

The first team to score 300 points was the winner and their studio audience members received merchandise prizes.

Unfortunately, Hal March died in January the following year, aged 49, after succumbing to pneumonia at the University of California Medical Center (he had his right lung removed two months earlier because of cancer).
