Long-running cartoon series from Hanna-Barbera in the style of The Archies. – The Pussycats are a singing group reluctantly involved in espionage during their whirlwind travels.

Janet Waldo (Penelope Pitstop) provided the voice of Josie, and Cheryl Ladd (Charlie’s Angels) provided the singing voice of Melody the very cute blonde drummer.

Josie was a redhead (well, orange-head really) and played the guitar while Valerie (the requisite African American girl) played the tambourine. For cartoons, these ladies looked very sexy in those leopard-skin leotards in their hot pink minibus . . .

Josie and the girls were accompanied on their adventures by their manager, Alan, and their mischievous pet cat, Sebastian. The series was followed later by Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space.
