This light-hearted magazine-style programme for women from Southern Television debuted on Monday 5 January 1970 and starred balding comedian (and former teacher) John Junkin, who was surrounded in the studio by a hundred ladies aged 18 to 80 and beyond.
Women from the uninhibited studio audience were encouraged to participate in glorified party games – engaging in activities ranging from singing a duet at the piano, joining an acrobat troupe, climbing a commando assault course net and going a few rounds with Henry Cooper, while Junkin tried to fulfil the nutty fantasies of his female viewers (such as riding a camel or throwing a bucket of water over Tom Jones).

Achieving success in its afternoon timeslot, the anything-can-happen show was moved to a primetime slot on Friday evenings in May 1970. The show began to be networked nationally in 1972.
John’s multitude of guests included Bernard Cribbins, Kenneth Haigh, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Stanley Unwin, Denis King, Billy Dainty, Kenny Ball, and Clive Dunn.
John Junkin died from lung cancer on 7 March 2006, aged 76.
