Muggsy was the nickname for 13-year-old Margaret Malloy (Sarah MacDonnell), who lived with her older brother, Nick (Ben Masters), a cab driver, in a furnished truck parked behind a gas station owned by Gus Gardician (Paul Michael) in an unidentified large city.
The show followed Muggsy’s life in the inner city as Nick struggled to make ends meet as a cabbie while she and her black pals Clytemnestra (Star-Shemah) and Li’l Man (Danny Cooper) faced such problems as drug abuse, vandalism, and the death of parents.
The series was shot on video on location in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Notable guest stars included Christopher Walken, David Naughton, Pamela Reed, and Scott Baio. The theme song was sung by David Clayton Thomas of Blood, Sweat & Tears.
