Bob Monkhouse was the original host of this Wednesday afternoon panel game show from Thames Television. Monkhouse – a former commercial artist – was assisted by the delicious Benny Hill Show girl Diana Darvey.
Monkhouse drew the questions, and three celebrity contestants had to respond by sketching cartoons to illustrate their answers. They also had to provide captions for cartoons drawn by others. Marks were awarded for the best efforts.
Guests included Charlie Drake, Spike Milligan, Roy Castle, Diana Dors, jazzman Humphrey Lyttelton, Leslie Crowther, satirist William Rushton, Lynsey de Paul, Frank Dickens, Daily Mirror cartoonist Bill Tidy, Peter Maddocks, Michael Bentine, Bob Todd, Jimmy Jewel, Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden, Roy Hudd, Brian Cooke, Joyce Blair and Jack Dunkley.
Rolf Harris took over as host in 1975 when Bob Monkhouse moved to Celebrity Squares.
Michael Bentine became the host in 1978 until the show’s demise in November 1979.
Sadly, Diana Darvey died on 11 April 2000, ten days before her 55th birthday, after a fall at her home.
