This 13-part BBC series debuted in Autumn 1975, featuring British spy Quiller (Michael Jayston) who worked for a secret agency known only as “The Bureau”.
The character of the spy who never carried a gun and relied on his wits and intuition to outsmart his opponents (created by Elleston Trevor, writing under the pseudonym of Adam Hall) had already appeared in the movie The Quiller Memorandum in 1966, starring George Segal.
Quiller was assigned around the globe to protect VIPs, recover missing people, rockets and official documentation, prevent secrets from being leaked, resurrect “sleepers”, bring back defecting agents and suchlike. His controller at The Bureau was Angus Kinloch (Moray Watson).
The only other series regular was Sinead Cusack, who played Roz.
