54 x 30 minute episodes
Premiering on 18 October 1972, this Wednesday lunchtime show from Scottish Television starred Andy Stewart.
Guests on the show over its two-year run included Lonnie Donegan, Julie Felix, Anita Harris, The Settlers, Dana, Moira Anderson, Rolf Harris, Ronnie Hilton, The Karlins and Clinton Ford.
Scotch Corner was an immediate success, showing that Andy Stewart’s high standard of Scottish entertainment was as popular in England, Ireland and Wales as in his native Scotland.
Andy Stewart began to distance himself from show business after 1974 as recurrent ill health took its toll on his voice and vitality.
Frequently hospitalised in the 1970s and 1980s, he underwent several heart and stomach operations, including triple heart bypass surgery in 1976 and again in 1991.
He suffered a fatal heart attack at his home on 11 October 1993, aged 59.
